COSMOS is the lifestyle retail wing of RNB Group of Industries COSMOS is the brainchild of our Chairman - Mr Banwari Lal Bajaj.The store was started not out of a need for fashion retailing but out of a need to diversify and to utilize a prime property.COSMOS – the name was chosen after a lot of brainstorming and was suggested by one of our close family friends – Mr Ramesh Bawri.
How we entered Retailing :
Our founders were into Wholesale business in the mid 60s and 70s and handled the distributorship of Hindustan Lever Ltd and Hindustan Vanaspati Ltd (DALDA).We are still known as Daldawala in Shillong although the business was discontinued in late 70s and then we ventured into manufacturing.The store premises was purchased a few yrs back to shift our head office but it could not happen as we were not very comfortable with the location.It was a better location for a retail venture.One fine day we finally decided to go ahead with the venture.The store commenced sales on 15th Dec 2005
Retail :
We operate one store currently in Police Bazar (shopping hub of Shillong) ,Shillong and are planning another store shortly.
Financial :
We commenced sales on 15th Dec 2005 and turned one year just recently.Percentage growth in December 2006 compared to December 2006 is about 12%
Buying and behaviour pattern of the people : :
The locals are very affluent.Also our store has the snob element attached to it.People like to be seen shopping at COSMOS.Cost is not a factor in our store.Being on the second floor our conversion rate is very high.Only serious shoppers visit COSMOS.

Visual merchandising in our stores :
We have ample space both inside as well outside the store for Visuals displays.We have a routine of changing the visual once on 45 days.Our display of merchandise is re shuffled every 15 days
Our backend is strong .Stock replenishement takes place the moment our system shows a decline in stock levels.Based on the movement of merchandise we set base level stocks for every category.We don’t maintain excess inventory and hence our stocks in godowns are close to nil.
Loyalty programme
We have named our loyalty program “J CLASS”.J Class because our store is about exclusivity.We provide our customers redemption coupons for every rupee spent.Exclusive Invites to concerts,shows,events is offered to all our J Class members.We are present in almost all the events happening in Shillong.We were a major part of the Bob Dylan Birthday Celebrations , Mrs Shillong and also the Autumn festival where Meghalaya broke the world record of having the largest Drum Ensemble in the world.Our hoardings are present in nearly the whole of Shillong.
INHOUSE Brand – ZIVA
We have our inhouse brand of Ties by the name of “ZIVA” which we launched in 2006 in a fashion show.We are among the first stores of North East to have an inhouse brand
